, southern slang lesson #1: In the South, it's considered impolite to take the Lord's name in vain or use it out of context:

Bejeebers can also be used in place of words for certain bodily functions that can happen if you're really scared.

or if you plan to knock the stuffing out of someone. I usually just knock the tar outta them instead.

You may have noticed that I say "goodness knows" instead of the other version. Nor will you ever see/hear me say I swear. It's "I swany". It's also considered extremely rude to use God before the D word.

Lesson over. There will be a test.

Funny - I say bejeebers all the time but never knew its origin.

He really is, he drives a truck and about 12 years ago ~ he was in Toledo, Ohio and a stray starving cat kept rubbing his legs at the plant where he was loading. He went to Walmart, bought a litter box, cat food, and a toy. Toots rode back to Georgia with him in a truck ~ he had a wonderful life for 10 years.

Yep, about the same way Kitty came to live with us. I brought her home as a feral orphan at three weeks old. Since it was a Friday evening, DH said she could stay (outside) until I could find a home for her on Monday. That was 3+ years ago. Now she's the first one in DH's lap at night.

I think you need your very own forum "a day in the life of gritsar", so we can all keep up on your little soap opera. I swear, at least once a day there is some kind of drama happening!!

Oh, and I'll call your Dh, just to make sure he knows that the cat made you feed him

Too scary to be posted on the internet. Today is one of those days.
I'm anxious to see whether the new cat shows up for supper or not.
Oh and DH knows if there was a stray animal around it got fed, even if it was a bear. Just like he knows that I was stretching the truth when I told him "we" ate up all the spanish rice he was looking for when he came home last night.
He knows that the "we" includes the chickens and that they probablty enjoyed it.

My DH and I have been somewhat adopted by a little black and white manx. He doesnt seem to bother the chickens as they free range but I think that has to do with our roo. He does however like to sleep in our porch swing and watch them.

Nope, haven't accidently nuked a critter yet. I have, however, found refrigerated food in the pantry and vice versa.
