I never put my email address or number in my craigslist ads and only use the anonymous addresses craigslist provide, and I always meet in a public place and usually bring my DH with me.
Did they actually get your true email addy from your ad or did they simply reply to your ad? They really can not get your address unless you reply back to them.
There would be one other way, that would be if you had emailed back and forth from another previous ad you ran and they kept the correspondence and replied to a new ad you posted and simply remembered you.

Exactly what I was thinking. Someone is yanking your chain, or you have an idiot friend who is trying to scare you with a fake username.
If someone sent this message to your cell phone, they're a fool, because you can very easily find out where the message originated.
If you're afraid, please involve the police. No one here on BYC can do anything to help other than tell you not to post your private info online.

This is the very reason why I have a separate email address for 'public' use!
