so i hatched out 13 amazingly beautiful chicks over 3 weeks ago... they couldnt have came at a better time. I've been going through some really tough stuff and it was a relief to just go sit in with my little fuzziebuts and forget about everything else... my mother is not a chicken person and has been hassling me to get rid of them.. so i called up someone local to see if theyd come take them.. he just came and got them.. i never thought id get so attatched to CHICKENS.. i juts keep looking at their pictures and crying.. its going to be so quiet and lonely around here without them to keep me busy and cheer me up... uhgg...

i miss my babies and they havent even been gone for 30 minutes.... they were all just starting to get so attached to me.. whenever id come in the room where their brooder box was theyd all fly up and perch on the edges of the box or completely fly out of it and run to see me.....

Shucks...

I'm going to rehome some of my older girls soon. (I've got to try to get back to the legal limit) It's never easy.

i just didnt think it would be this hard.. i almost started balling as he was walking out my house with them.. i guess he noticed becauser he goes "your not going to cry are you?" i said no and quickly walked away before the tears started coming..

what am i gonna do now without my 13 little fuzziebuts around?... i let myself get way to attached... i know their going to a good home. the guy is really nice and has a 3 year old daughter who just loves little chickies... he just kind of made me worry a bit when he said she once put 4 of her favorite baby chicks in a small water holder thing and they suffocated....

I feel your pain all to well

I had a nice flock of 25 chickens and 9 ducks most I hatched out myself and the rest I got when they were little fuzzybutts

I knew every single chicken in my yard knew which hens laid what egg and what rooster crowed when I heard the sound - they all had names and were my babies I LOVED them goofy birds

until we were told by the health dept that our landlord put in an illegal sewer system ( he had 4 trailers to one tank and less than an acre of land ) so we all had to move - I had to find in town and had to rehome all my chickens - ducks - and a few of my dogs

I went into a nasty depression until I looked into quail

I now have a flock of button quail -- 4 coturnix quail - and 2 bobwhites ( that need a new home ) and I am the foster mom to 10 ringneck Pheasants that go back to the zoo in a few weeks

maybe your mom would let you get a few small quail ? they sure helped me when I was depressed I still miss my chickens but it is getting better.

Crazy4chicks, i'm so sorry about you having to give away your babies also

. I'm sure it was probably harder for you where you had had them for much longer that i have had mine... and i know what you mean about being able to tell which one was crowing (or in my case chirping) just by the sound... I had all mine named reflecting their personalites and traits and i think they were even starting to learn their names. At least my big lap chicky Kramer, he was my first ever hatchling and was my least favorite at first because he was quite hideous looking. but i grew to love his goofy looks and he soon became my favorite... im going to miss him the most i think... he was a huge mommas boy...
