Hi fellow Aussies, Kat here, I was given this site from another chicken lover. Im new to raising chickens and learning so much already. I have 2 baby chicks(not sure of age or breed) possibly 2+ weeks, 1 black,1 white & 1 red hen plus an Araucana rooster & yesterday bought a sussex hen. I want to know when is the rooster ready to mate, he is about 6/7 months old and only started to crow today 21/3/14, he sounded like someone had him by the neck with his efforts,made me laugh. Would appreciate any info.

Thank you LittleFamily, yes they are cute, Im hopeful they are girls as thats what I bought them as, will just have to wait and see..Im in QLD,where are you?
