So I'm back to follow up with a post I made about 3 weeks back asking for opinions on the rare breed chicks I had gotten. There was one chick that everyone agreed could be a BB Red Aseel...but not 100% sure. We are officially at 4 weeks now so I'm thinking there have been some changes that might be more telltale. I've attached the initial chick picture first for reference. This little one and my 4 week old Polish are the only ones that get into it--my Polish is bigger, doesn't like to be picked on and ultimately "wins" but this lil chick is all about trying to be the boss of the whole crew.

My second question is about my black sumatra (also 4 weeks). Is it too early to tell gender? The tail feathers in the last few days have clearly gotten longer and are creating an arch almost. Would this be a rooster or still too early? Sumatra is super docile so far and I hope it stays that way. BTW...the crew came from Cackle Hatchery

Thanks everyone!

#1. Not anything Black Breasted Red...looks more Silver Duckwing. :) Are the legs beginning to darken at all? If so, I'm thinking Silver Duckwing Phoenix. Aseels don't have single combs. Definitely cockerel.
#2. Too early. Adorable, though! :love

My very first impression when I got the chick was a Phoenix but the leg color wasn't adding up and group actually mentioned that. I would say the legs darkened up a tad but still can't say it's even a solid gray yet. Thanks for gender info---now begins the watching and waiting to see if he will play nice with the others (atleast enough to keep him around). No doubt I have a few more cockerels in the crew I don't know about yet.

Come to think of it....are those little legs pink? Silver Duckwing Standard Old English Game is another option. :)

The legs are hard to capture but they really are almost 2 colors...almost like an iridescence of pink and slate colored

By this age, I'd think they'd be slightly darker if he were a Phoenix, come to think of it. I'm actually leaning towards Silver Duckwing Old English, if that's a possibility. Did you order an assortment, and if so, which one? :)

Some of my Crele OEGBs' legs darkened slightly before transitioning completely to pink.
