I want to, but squeamish guy roommate is hanging out in the kitchen. My cool roommate is leaving on a trip soon, and I was going to use her as camera person for the video.

I might still kick squeamish guy to his room so I can test it out.

I dunno ... fried catfish makes for some awfully good eating, as long as there isn't a really muddy bottom where you're fishing!

it actually has to do more with water temperature for the “mud vein” and if you filet them like mr muddy does, that “mud vein” goes in the trash!!

Are these really necessary?

It will make your bricks/blocks last longer but is not an absolute necessity for the type of fire pit you are making.
