:( Just joined and now tragedy

New here.... have 2 chickens ( hen) of my own as pets.

I am sorry it happened to you.. Last spring, the two dogs from across the street came by at early mornings and killed 9 ! Left 2 alive! I was lost and angry. They all was my pets. Now I'm itching to buy some more!

I didn't know it had a name (SSS), so I've learned yet something more here today!

I live on six acres in a subdivision, and while I have not had to employ the SSS system in defense of my chickens, I have to rid ourselves of groundhogs which continually threaten the foundations of our home, sheds, and my studio(barn).
The system in not for everyone, and as is true with everything else in this world, everyone has their own opinions. I am not here to change theirs, but I will defend my homestead/family/pets against predators be they natural vermin or stray pet dogs.
Once they have broken through any barriers I have set up (fencing, enclosures, etc.) and attacked or killed, they IMO, have crossed the line of mercy.
If, however, a lost dog is just meanding around, lost and no threat, of course I would simply call the animal control and/or get the dog safely back to their owner with the request that they should keep better control of their pet.
