Hi there,
Have just joined Backyard Chickens.com. Have only just started keeping chickens in the last 2 weeks, have 5 hennys at the moment, Hilda (White Leg horn), Buffy (Buff Sussex), Henny Penny (Loman Ranger), Lilibet (Rhode Rock - incidently named after the Queen as I got her on jubilee weekend!!!) and Mabel (Speckled Maran). Hilda has been laying roughly 1 egg a day and this morning Henny Penny laid her first egg!!!! and I saw her laying it!! how exciting is that. I thought she was having trouble laying it eg had got stuck as I could see it crowning but she just popped it out, bless her. After she had laid it she went in a bit of trance is that normal after a chuck has laid an egg or was she a bit shocked!!! hee hee. I never knew chickens could be so fun to keep, they are really tame now especially Henny Penny bless her. Look forward to meeting you fellow chicken lovers, take care.
