Hello fellow Austinite. Welcome. This is a great forum. Austin is very chicken friendly. I'm in south Austin and I have 3 hen. 2 RIR's and 1 Catalina. There are at least 3 other people in my neighborhood that have backyard chickens. There is a link at the top of the page on breeds that might help you decide on what kind of hens you want.
