Baldie, I know how you feel, last year during a roller skating class I was helping my hubby skate backwards (which he was not good at) and he lost his balance...long story short, I tried to stop his fall, I went down with him and we landed on my left leg breaking it and severely damaging my ankle, so bad I had to have surgery within a few days of falling. EVERYONE kept blaming hubby...even though it was "technically" my fault.
As for our coop, we put a type of latch on the door that is similar to a hook and eye latch, you have to physically close the latch to keep the coop door shut. No way to get locked in. On our run though, we have the slider bar type latch (like in most public bathrooms) and we have both gotten into the habit of locking the run when we leave it, therefore I have gotten locked in the run by hubby a number of times. The longest imprisonment thus far has been 20 minutes. I didn't mind too much because I love sitting on a box in the run with the chicks (26, 8 week olds) and it was warm out.
