My little babies will be a week old tomorrow and there was one little girl I was concerned about yesterday. She just seemed lethargic and I didn't see her drinking much. I mixed up some sugar water and was droppering that into her beak a few times yesterday, and in the afternoon she rallied and I saw her eating. But last night she took a turn for the worse and when I changed the paper towels on top of the sand I have down in the brooder the others were "bowling her over" in their mad dash to get away from what I was doing. And she didn't seem to have the energy to right herself.I had to help her up. I knew she probably wouldn't make it through the night........ I just hope that I did everything OK and I wasn't the cause of her demise. On the plus side the other 25 seem healthy and very active, eating and drinking and even trying to dust bathe in the food that I spread over the floor.
Is it normal to lose a chick several days in? I guess I expected any losses to happen right after shipping. I have just started adding Braggs ACV to their water--started with a tsp to a gallon and will work up to a Tablespoon. I started out with sugar in their waterer and then switched to the Sav a Chick electrolyte. Do you think I should still be using that in their water or just stick with the ACV? I have learned so much from this forum and I know I will be asking many more questions
