I use start and grow for all chicks i dont use the medicated at all and never had a problem. I switch to layer at about 18 weeks give or take. If they are on layer you dont really need oyster shell but it is inexpensive and not a bad idea to have it available for them i prefer the pellets as there is way less waste. but your plan sounds fine if you want the medicated
