I say neighbor, but really not. This guy lives about a mile away, through woods, in a little subdivision. Driving ....... about 2 miles away. I didn't even know who he was until a couple weeks ago when the dog was here last time. And I being the nice person, brought the dog into my house and called the owner telling him his dog was here at my house. He FINALLY called back 5 HOURS later and said that he was sorry and thanked me for watching the dog. Mind you, it was in the negitive degrees at the time and the dog has very short hair.

I told him I found the dog by coop that time and took it in 1- because of the cold and 2- because I didn't want it by my chickens and 3- because if the dog left, it might not ever go home.

Fordmommy,
now that I have the whole story I really feel your pain. Same thing with us..the dog is through the woods and has to make an effort to come to our home. I am going to get the sheriff to ticket him and try to get paid for our chickens. It won't replace the two that were pets though. My oldest daughter hasn't figured it out yet because she is always at school. My youngest girl is almost three and she wanders through the yard calling for Henrietta and Mama Chicken. Its so sad. I am upset that these people will definitely not be good neighbors. Our chickens are stressed to which has definitely effected egg production for the few I have left. The are always on edge now. Poor things!

Good Luck to you,

Melody
