I just read elsewhere that a proper time to start introducing treats to them is at 2 months. I do throw rose petals in their run and I pull blossom heads off my basil and tarragon and toss those in there along with a branch or two of thyme. They peck at the seeds, eat some of the herbs and have the sticks to play with to keep from getting bored all day. Plus it keeps the coop and run smelling nice! I am waiting to introduce anymore kitchen scraps. They get dried mealworms as a treat for going back to the coop in the evening.
and then it's a feeding frenzy. It's been cold here we had or first real frost. I was worried about them in the coop but with the one heat lamp they seem fine. They have almost all their feathers now too. Need to buy more food this weekend they already went through a 50 lb bag. Hungry beasties with the cold.
