Just ordered first chicks...do you think I'll get extras?

I just got my 13 chicks today (from HealthyChicksand more) and I didn't get packing peanuts-they shipped in a little box with a styrofoam liner and hay. All the airholes were covered with tape. The chicks are doing well and seemed fine. I'm inCT and it's cold here. I'll post pics later.

I dont know where you are. I am in Deep South East Texas. kinda between Beaumont and Lufkin.

I ordered 10
8 bantams and 2 Jersey Giants I got 10. No packing peanuts. They had them with some hay pallets and they left about 4 inches of space tht was about 8 inches long for the chicks to be in.

They were all in great shape and *knock on wood* are still doing great the next day.

So, you might not get the extras.

Hello, I think it depends on where you are and the temps too. I ordered 10 chicks, 3 weeks ago and they sent 15 "extra" peanuts. I am in CT and its pretty cold here. So I would expect some..

It'll be quite warm by the time they ship (just found out it'll be April 15th).

I know. I'm so excited...I just got a whole new burst of energy to work on the coop (the brooder has been ready for a month..haha).

I would love to get outside to get coop up but the ground is frozen solid here. Brooder is almost ready just need to finish top. I painted and named it. Sad I know. Giving a brooder box a name.

I ordered 10 pullets from Ideal and got 10 males. 20 in all. The pullets were the surprise mix and the males were all the same breed. I'm glad otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell the pullets from the roos....

I just got my delivery from Ideal on tuesday (one day ship time...got a love it), and I had 10 chicks in my order and 3 runner ducksa...and I got 7 little roosters..I think they are RiR's, at least that is what they look like. All are doing really well, and growing like weed.
