Last year I ordered 10 sexed bantams from MPC and got exactly what breed/sex I wanted! This year I've ordered 4 standard white egg laying chickens for April delivery. Coincidently, all four breeds are white/black so this should be interesting to figure out which chick is which breed. They are all on the small side (4ish pounds) and lay white eggs. They're Silver Lakenvelder, Exchequer Leghorn, Silver Spangled Hamburg and Appenzeller Spitzhauben.

I've only got two older girls that lay white eggs right now and they are far and few between so I really needed to stock up on more white egg layers. Most of my big hens are green/blue layers with a few brown layers in there. I was going to order some black copper marans for that beautiful brown egg color but delivery wasn't until June and I don't want to wait that long. Will have to order them in December 2010 I guess to get them in the spring!

Am so excited, now spring HAS to come!

I ordered my first Buff Orpingtons from MPC and my friend (hes a reliable breeder) told me that MPC isnt a good place to order from because the birds arent great quality...unless you want pet chickens....he says the best place to order from is Superior Farms Poultry....sorry if this puts a damper on ya....didnt mean it that way jus lettin ya know....

No problem. I appreciate the info. I don't show and they're just pets so quality isn't necessarily what I'm looking for as far as showing birds goes. However, the chicks I got last year were all healthy and are still doing great. Fills my needs

Got my five girls (listed in my signature) from MPC. They may not be show quality, but they're wonderful chickens, as the OP said, happy and healthy. I hope your new babies arrive safe and sound! And I hope your order ushers in SPRING!!

I got a few girls from them last year. Out of 4 that survived (got lost in the mail) 3 are good pet quality, and 1 I would consider using as a breeder. But overall- customer service was great and I appreciate only having to get a few chicks. Meyer supplies for them, and you can go directly through Meyer as well. Congrats! I might be ordering some wellies from them/Meyer if I can't find any here on BYC.

they are wonderful! even if they arent show quality the eggs i hatched under two of my broodies from MPC last year are!!
