Just potential botulism or worse?

this looks like pretty decent stuff to me. I don't know if the amount of niacin is quite enough *if* the cause is from a a vitamin deficiency.
@CayugaJana ?

Today he seems pretty bad, weaker than yesterday at least. Video is pretty distressing.
He seems to have ups and downs but today is definitely a down day.

The food is for game birds (ducks, turkeys, geese etc), we picked the food with the best protein that was still marketed for ducks, this is a common ingredient list for poultry food in Australia, I don't know the differences in terms of food input from other countries.
There is vitamin b in the anitone and we also put some vegemite in the water (also rich in vitamin b and a main go to in Aus for sick birds).

Ducks aren't overly common where I am, so it's hard to find local information.

Thanks for all the help and advice so far!

She mentioned the supplement had niacin.... 23 mg? I don’t know if that’s sufficient, but I wanted to point it out.

Angil— you can use human vitamins/supplements if you need to... it’s better than nothing and almost always easier to get in any drug store or grocery. Look for b complex vitamins, or niacin specifically.

Ducks should have at keast 55mg of niacin so not sure how 23mg could be considered duck feed?
I would get him some supplemental niacin - b complex liquid would be best at this point to get it in his system quicker.

If it is botulism, the main thing you can do is give him supportive care while his body gets rid of it. Lots of fluids. Is he eating and drinking his normal amount?

If he were mine, I would consider giving him lots of water to flush out the toxins. Clostridium botulinum is a paralytic and does look similar to your ducks symptoms. That being said, I have never encountered it in Ducks myself. @casportpony what do you think about tube feeding him some water or fluids? Would you suggest electrolytes?(casportpony has excellent instructions for tube feeding and she can help anyone through it)

Can you do an online search for “sublingual vitamin b complex” and see what products come up in Australia? We can get it at a lot of different stores here in the states. If so, get the liquid and start giving it to him ASAP after he’s had some fluids.

So to recap- 1) fluids, fluids, fluids 2) sublingual vitamin b complex

Please report back with any questions, someone is always online to help you!

I think 23 mg was just what was in the supplement.

@Angil
Any news?

So I was looking at the Anitone and the amounts listed are per liter, so it has very little stuff per ml.

If he were my duck I would give him some human vitamin e orally and I would give him a 1 ml injection of vitamin complex for cattle. If I could not get the injectable I would give him a human vitamin b complex pill orally.

I think would also start him on some antibiotics.

Good post. This is one I would tube, but he'll be tricky because he can't hold his head up.
