Just put eggs under my broody who's with me? We are back! With Bantams

Day 1, Day 1, Day 1, Day 1!!! To exited I know I still have 20 more days to go but it is just so, rrrrrrr I dont know how to explain! I mean this is SOOOOOOOOOO EXITING!

I used to have a hen that laid 12 eggs and hatch them, raise the chicks, wean them, lay another 12 eggs, hatch them... Over and over. We called her Mommy. Sadly she got killed by an dog last year.
I'd say 12 is a good number for a hen to cover properly.
I put 3 more eggs under my broody this morning, so she now has 10 eggs. Fingers crossed!

We put 6 eggs under our broody. Being the first time I have tried this I wasn't exactly sure how many was appropriate for her to handle. I figure the small number will make it easier for her being the first time that she has ever hatched out chicks. I am excited to watch the whole process and hope she turns out to be a good momma!

I've got a light Sussex sitting on 8 "foster" EE eggs. She's gone broody enough that I thought I'd give her a try and borrowed eggs from a friend. She's been sitting for a week. So far so good. It's our first time using a broody so I'm sure we'll learn a lot from the experience.
