Hey yall!
I'm a new crazy Duck Mom!
My son and his girlfriend decided to bring home 2 Pekin ducklings.
Well, they were cute and fun for them for about a week and then I had to take over.
Here's my story and how a year has flown by already learning as I go!
I stumbled on this site yesterday!
So, one duck died after about 2 mo.
I had read they should be in pairs so he went to get another and was told they only sell them in pairs so that equals 3 ducks.
2 Mallard and 1 Pekin.
Fast forward to now laying and sitting on eggs
Eggs hatching
normally I collect eggs daily but have gone on vacations and no one has collected eggs while I'm gone so I let the 2 females nest on the uncollected.
Well, they keep killing them when they hatch.
I don't know why, which is why I'm here to find out.
They've drowned them in water.
I managed to save one. Her name is " lucky" and I'm her mom.
She's been a house duck for about 6 weeks now and I absolutely adore her.
I've tried to let them all rome together but the male ( Peter) and the female Pekin ( Quakers ) are not nice to her.
Any ideas why the Pekin stabbed her in the stomach and why the male ( the dad) is what appears to be mean to her?
Oh, so now I have 4 ducks.
Quackers, Petrie, Peter and Lucky!

Hi and :welcome!
Drakes are often mean to their offspring. Sometimes the mamas are too. I’m not sure why, but you could ask in the duck forum here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/ducks.42/

It would be best if you could get at least another ducking for her to live with, so she learns what it’s like to be with other ducks :).

Congratulations on Lucky’s successful hatch!
