This is Eleanor the Cornish cross pullet I rescued from slaughter. She got picked real bad and spent 2 weeks in a dog crate in my playroom. One day I had her out on the carpet and my mom said that Eleanor had to be on a towel so if she poops it doesn’t get on the carpet. So I got a towel and put Eleanor on it, a few minutes later she is standing on the towel with her butt over the carpet and she poops and my mom tells Eleanor that she’s a naughty chicken (in a joking way) and Eleanor looks at my mom with a smug look because she found a way to obey the towel rule while still pooping on the carpet :gig. Gosh I miss her so much. Unfortunately I had to rehome my whole flock because of neighbors and Eleanor passed away from depression 3 weeks later. :hit

This is what i keep them in during the day while im in school. I live in florida so it doesnt get too cold, and they stay inside when im at home.after winter i may expand it. Everything i had in the coop was free/recycled except the food and the bowl. The bright orange stuffed moose used to belong to my pet hamster bear, but he escaped and we never saw him again. The top part we got when some people where throwing away some of their dead father's junk (he had had a heart attack during hurricane irma and died) We also got the little cat thing from the same people. My mom's co-worker made the actual run part for free with some spare wood and he bought the chicken wire from a hardware store. The blankets and towels around it are to make sure it doesnt get too cold, and the blanket at the top is usually just kept at the right side to help keep the wind out.
