I just helped some people get this duck that was dumped off at a local park and she's been kind of rough. But looks like she has a hole that scabbed over on the back of her neck and one side of her face is swollen. Should I try to drain the abscess or how would you guys proceed? I have oxytetracycline and tylan200 at the house.

Since its hard, that makes me personally think its a tumor of sorts. Is she exhibiting any respiratory-related signs, such as, tail bobbing, sneezing, heavy breathing, or coughing?
I've treated eye infections and such when my chickens fight or get injured but I've never dealt with a swollen area where the skin is not broken. I also have very limited experience with waterfowl. Most of my flock is chickens, turkey, and guinea fowl. She was breathing with her mouth open but not weezing and I thought that could have been because she was upset. She didn't put up much of a fight when I caught her. Her nostrils are clear. She's missing most of the feathers on her back like she was overmated? The hole in the scab on the back of her head was the top layer of scab. There was a solid scab underneath it. I left it alone after seeing that but the whole area is hot to the touch which is why I administered antibiotics. Thank you guys for the advice. I've only been working with poultry for a little over a year.

Yes, she has some mating damage on the back of her neck, and some mild wet feather on her back also. As far as the "tumor" I wouldn't see any reason to lance it, If she were mine I'd just monitor her closely, I don't think there is much you can do if it is a tumor.

Thank you SO much. Your advice has been very helpful.
