Just rescued some more Battery Hens *pics*

Best of luck with her today John. I'm worried about one of my Silkie Hens last night I noticed when I checked on them she just kept sleeping didn't wake up until I moved some hay around her, she wouldn't eat any mushy food I made them the other two eat it right up. Then I noticed a bright weird green poop behind her. So I'm very worried about her. It's just starting to get day light here been raining all night, very nasty out. We are having flood warnings for a couple days. I slip around out there in the mud enough as it is. Anyway hope Ruby is better today.

Aww hope she gets better! It went ok today. She wasnt happy about me putting olive oil down her so didnt get that much down! I massaged her crop and give her some tomatos so that the acid off them would help with the break down of everything.

UPDATE: Ruby has sadly gotten worse. I think her impacted crop has now went sour. I will be bringing her down out of the field tomorrow to stay with me and treat her for sour crop. Hopefully she will make it.

Hoping and praying she gets better John.

Thanks. Me too! Going to get some of my college work done in the morning then will get a lift up to go pick her up at dinner time then will bring her down home and spend the afternoon with her.

She's down home now. Not sure if it is sour crop now because her breath doesn't smell. Going to leave her the night to see if she passes anything and to see if her crop empties.

Was she still laying ? If so it is very common for production hens to get egg bound. I lost 2 to egg binding. My old red would look like death warmed up at times.

She was before she got ill. I have felt around her vent and everything feels fine...

I have really loved reading your stories about your work rescuing these sweet girls. I'm so sorry about you loss of Ruby and Flora - we have had too many losses to predators, but recently lost my very favorite and sweetest hen Kiki. I hope your currently sick hen gets well. Sending good wishes.
