Just rescued some more Battery Hens *pics*

Edwina is laying now!!

Ruby still isn't very well. Her anti biotics are coming in the post but I have give her a shot of Baytril today (I don't have enough to fully treat her with that), so hopefully she wont get any worse.

Poor Ruby, hope she gets better soon. Do you have Oxine (AH) there? 1/8th teaspoon mixed with a gallon water put in a fine mister spray bottle sprayed 4 or 5 times above her head can do wonders.

Nope, I don't have anything but a wincy bit of Baytril. I'm going to give her a shot of it again tonight, but its so hard because she puts up such a fuss! Hopefully her stuff will arrive tomorrow and I will just put it in all the girls water because there is no egg withdrawl and she isn't isolated so she could pass it on...

Ruby seems to be feeling better after having her shot of Baytril. Her other stuff is delayed int he post, so I will finish the last of the Baytril off tomorrow just to keep her going!

Aww thank you for rescuing ex-batts! I hope Ruby continues to improve

I only have one rescue girl left now :( I miss them a lot, such wonderful little things, but they seem to get so many problems and don't always live very long, as selfish as it sounds, I just needed to give my heart a break for a little while. Will definitely get some more in the future though! :)

Aww fantastic! I know a few people that have had them live to 6, sadly my eldest passed away recently, I think she would of been just over 4. Nancy, my remaining rescue has been free since Oct '11, but I can tell she's getting stiff in her legs now, bless her. Will have to keep a close eye on her now the weather's getting colder.

4 is average for a ex batt, so its not bad! I think you should just get more because think even if they die, they die peacfully and happy and not having to go through the slaughter house. One of my ex batts was only free for 2 weeks before dying, but she got some freedom! She is actually the hen that is part of this thread, if you look back through then you will see her RIP post!

I will definitely get more in the future, but for now I have enough girlies. I also had a really bad spell around Christmas where everything that could go wrong did go wrong, we were at the vets every week, a few got EYP/internal problems and really suffered during their last days, to the point it was kinder to have them pts, it was a really stressful and upsetting time. I also have a few health problems so selfishly I decided to get some posh girls to make my life a little easier, but will definitely get more ex-batts when things are better
