A late welcome... but better late than never!
Congratulations on your new baby chicks!!

Have you ever thought about using a Mama Heating Pad to help raise your chicks? I raised my second group this way and will never use a heat lamp again! There are other alternatives as well:

We have dogs too, and I trained them to leave the chicks/chickens alone. It does take a lot of persistence (and rewards for looking away) to teach the "leave it" command. But it's well worth it, and who knows, your dogs may just rather eat chicken poop instead like mine do :sick
