Just set my first hatch ever!!!! (Feb 19) Anyone else set today?

After seeing so many videos and hearing about other being able to hear their eggs chirp, I was concerned with the same silence. I did not hear any chirping within the eggs until they actually started work hard at breaking through the shell. I have one hatched that took 6 hours and the 2nd egg that has a small pip is progressing much slower that the first one.

Here is my first chick

freshly hatched.

I hear peeping!!!!

One egg has pipped (That's where the initial crack is, right? I'm still getting used to the correct terms) and another one is rocking back and forth a little. I was so worried that I'd somehow killed all my eggs, so, it's really nice to see some action in there!

Come on, chickies! It's time to show your fuzzy little butts!

I had 15 hatch so far with 13 of the remaining 15 pippe. It was amazing, I saw the first cracks on one of the eggs late lastnight, and when it finally emerged and made some chiping...it was like the signal to everyone else to start and there were pips everywhere! It has been a fun day and going to go check one more time before bed...

Good luck,

Joe

When I woke up this morning 28 of 30 were hatched and #29 was piped...not sure about #30

So far, I have 1 hatched, 3 pipped (maybe 4; but, I can't get a good view) and the rest are just sitting there. The little chick that hatched around 4 am is black (maybe some light spots?) And came from a green (olive?) egg. The chick keeps peeping out her support to those pipping. It's so cute!

We've got 5 chicks that I "snatched" this morning and put in the brooder. None of th other 7 eggs have shown any pipping; but, I'm going to let them go another couple days in the incubato (just to be safe). These little guys are adorable! I'll post pix when I'm on the computer instead of my phone.
