Just set up my Brinsea Octogon20 Advance incubator

I might make a thread also, I've been keeping a diary...sort of, and taking pictures. The more experiences out there the better right?

Yes if you make a thread please link it on this one for me, thank you.

LeviS, I used the cooling feature on 2 hatches so far and great hatch results. My eggs were not shipped though.

And my next hatch I will be trying it at 99.5 as it reads on the Brinsea. I did my last hatch at 100.5 because my other glass thermometer I bought from Brinsea, and made by Brinsea, was reading 2 degrees cooler than the one of my incubator. But my hatch was almost a day early, so a nice person on this thread suggested I should just use what the incubator says next time.

Good luck with your first hatch! I am so enjoying my 2 batches of chicks. Cannot wait until summer to do another hatch. I am trying to control myself a bit you see!
I started out with it on, when I did one of my walk byes I must have caught it in the cooling feature and freaked out

because I saw the temp and humidity way down!!!! So yea...that got turned off and everything went back to normal, don't think I can "handle" the cooling feature just yet lol.

You are not supposed to begin the cooling feature until day 7 according to the studies done which can be read on the Brinsea website.

Thanks for the kind words Renee. Hope your hatch, and everyone new has a great experience!

My brinsea is from 4-11 and don't have the cooling option. That was new in 2012....so....It's nice to learn from folks that have the option. One could always buy another one if the option is worth it. Folks are always looking for used brinsea incubators. I prolly don't need the feature, I'm thinkin.

Have Fun....bigz

Just searched for threads about temps on Brinsea. I know this is an old thread, but I feel it's important to note that just because it's a big, prestigious (allegedly) company does not mean that they don't sometimes have quality issues with their machines. I have a mini advance that is running perfectly on temperature and the chicks are developing as they should. I have a maxi II that is running three degrees low and the development is lagging. I have tried to adjust up to make the temp accurate. You don't have to trust the company. You CAN ask questions and have them fix something if it's wrong. Running at 96 degrees F is WRONG. I guess that's what the 3 year warranty is for. If you pay this much, they should make it right, and that's what I'm counting on. I have too much money in this company's products and in eggs to have this kind of nightmare.
