I have a 3mth old Khaki baby doll named Cocoa, here she is:

She has lived in a cage about 2' behind me since I peeled her shell of her, she was the lone survivor in a batch, and is so spoiled, "how spoiled is she?", I'm gonna tell you, she's sooooooo spoiled, I can't walk out of the room without the cutest non-stop khaki quacking emanating from her!...It just makes my heart melt...But it gets better...

I built her a lil mini-run out front so she could get used to being outside(we found out the other ducks don't like her so integration may be out of question, but we'll stay hopeful on that) and she stays out there until sundown...My wife hand-dug a pond about 10'x10'x2.5' and I began walking her out there so she could swim...Here comes the really really cute part, as I was walking her around she just stopped and laid down and almost flattened herself out, I, just thinking it was cute, took advantage of it as I could pet her(which she really doesn't put up with) and then I stood up and tried to get her walking again...She then did the cutest lil head turn, looked up at and I could tell in her eyes, she was saying PICK ME UP!...So I did!!!!!...This was the first time she ever let me hold her without leaving train tracks on my arms and I walked her out the pond, laid her down and she went swimming...When she was done, she gets out, looks at me sitting on the lil bench my wife put there and lays down flat again...I picked her up and walked her back to her run, of course taking advantage of her submissiveness to kiss her the entire way there and tell her how much I love her, and put her in her run...After 3 days, this is now our together time!...First thing this morning, I filled her water bowl and for the first time, she laid down flat in her cage!!!! so I picked her up and took her for a morning swim!...

I'm sure many can relate to this but the smile she has put on my face is almost beyond words, the trust and love she shows is so unconditional and counter-intuitive to what I always thought, I had to share it...

Hate to break it to you, but that's not a Pekin.

Might be a Khaki Cambell, not sure though.

And the squating is a mating thing. She sees you as a drake and wants to breed.

I sit corrected...LOL

Dang, now why did I call her a Pekin? Guess I was writing from my heart and not my head... LOLOLOL

Its ok we have brain farts from time to time... Yes it is a mating thing.. but it is still very endearing when tehy do it.. I have a Partridge Cochin bantam that does it and I still think its sweet.. Even though she really is just a nympho... LOL

I'm not sure I can tell my wife that, I'll NEVER hear the end of it and if my friends in Baltimore find out I moved to Kentucky and now have animals making passes at me, I'll never be able to go back there, hmmmmm, decisions, decisions....

Awwwww!! That is so sweet. My girls do the same thing to the drakes, and I had a single hen for a while after the rest of my flock was eaten by a fox, and she began coming on to me that way. It is really cool, though, because they do become SO compliant--I could do anything to her while she was "in the mood." I just felt bad that I couldn't truly satisfy her need--okay, what I really mean is I felt bad that she didn't have a drake to satisfy that need! lol

But it's funny how unusual circumstances build unusual bonds. It sounds like you guys really have a good relationship.

Just make sure your wife knows the romantic attraction is a one-way street! lol
