I wanted to quickly introduce myself. We have 19 wonderful chickens right now. We started out with 5 chicks, which grew to 7, then 11 and pretty soon we had 25. We've lost a few here and there which always ends in tears and full fledged funerals. Our children, aged 5 and 11(and one out of the house now) have enjoyed these feathered pets for the past 2 years. Our 5 year old named her hen (when she was only 3 years old) after an avacado!! This hen has been held like a baby and sung to most of her life and is the best momma who has raised several healthy chicks! We love our chickens and they are our pets. We give them a heat lamp in the winter to keep them warm and don't mind the chuckling of the neighbors!
