So the other day I'm mowing the lawn. Second pass I see a nest. I ran over a junco Nest and they're fine; we watch one hatch. I slide the nest to cover and watch mom, she's perfect. A day later the chicks are gone (I'm hoping for the best). 2 eggs, one rotten. One viable. I tossed it in the incubator. A slim chance is better than no chance, am I right? It will be insane if it hatches, but I am looking for a bird sanctuary

We have 2 more nests in the yard I'm marking with stakes! The one just got it's first egg today. I'm documenting the clutch. My little girl wants all the babies, but hopefully she learns to respect nature

Yes, respecting nature is something we all need to learn at a time in our lives. I am sure she will understand that you’re rescuing them and that you cannot keep them. I know sometimes children get ideas in their heads and they can throw tantrums when things don’t go the way they think they will. I’ve been there...

You’re amazing for teaching her this early :hugs Nature is something many people do not respect.
