I haven't been to Atwoods, my absolutely favorite store, since our visit in May when I told my DH I was going to buy the last of their chicks and he said no. I must have looked like an out of control two year old that day the way I reacted.
We were planning a trip there next week while DH is on vacation.
I just read the Atwoods ad in the paper.
They are selling chicks again.

They are selling chicks at our Atwoods here, too. I have been BANNED by my DH. As in restraining order, not to be within 500ft type banned.

But my mom went in the other day and said they had blue silkies

now we all know I must have some blue silkies

or at least any color will do! Just more silkies.

Our Orschelns farm store has chicks and guineas....

Guess who now is the proud owner of my VERY first guineas?!?!?

That's what I pitched a fit about in May, a blue silkie! Believe me, a 47 year old woman on the floor in a store kicking her feet, pounding her fists and crying is not a pretty sight.

Oh and on the same page of the ad? Little chicken hutches that would be perfect for a couple of silkies, or more.

For around here, not really. We've got maybe ten weeks or more until winter starts rearing its ugly head.

I have my first silkies in the incubator right now- 29 of them...and I'm probably going to be divorced by winter, at this rate...he's so tolerant of me, I really don't deserve him.

Weird to me. DH and I are both able to purchase what we want when we want, as long as the budget allows it. I can't even imagine either one of us enacting a ban or having a tantrum.

I guess we are different.

I'm only allowed 20 by law, no roos. I have 6 incubators full, 14 chicks (2 zipping, so likely more in a minute), and 14 hens/pullets...and a roo.

It's not that he controls me, it's that I don't control me. Now, most of these birds will be for sale, as we're hoping to be pushers to chicken-addict the city, now that the ordinance is passed, so I'm not altogether crackers, but still...you can see his point, I imagine.

But I'm HAPPY!!! It's a good thing!
