coturnix are just like people they all have very particular likes and dislikes.

Also, when you are to check for foam..you are to look for a swollen area above the vent THAT is a roo

Not foam coming from the vent itself.

But anywho, it takes a bit to upload it's just a vid showing where and how to foam check (which has nothing to do with teh vent itself)

well, other than the fact that the gland is beside (and above) the vent.

Thank goodness I don't have to do that just yet! I just have browns, one roo, and I've seen two of my three A&M's breeding the hens so I know they're roos too!

I make sure to "squeeze" gently, to make sure they don't just have foam on their bums.

I'll check them again today and if they still throw me for a loop, I'll seperate them and see who foams and who lays eggs.

OK, that poses a question, and I will try to get a pic later tonight. I have a coturnix actually 4 of them. Someone is laying eggs and I think I know which one but man is her rear swollen and red. Almost like a prolapse but I think I picked her up not too long after she laid the egg. Do they do this? Is it normal?
