Welcome to the darkside un muahahahahaha you will be ordering more once your mom sees them and if not then...well when fresh eggs are coming in the house daily that will perk her right up.
I said we were just going to have two. When we went to pick them out though I figured we should get three just in case one turned out to be a boy. Then a couple weeks after that I was buying feed and just had to have a couple of the Rhode Island Reds, after all you can't have too many eggs can you? My husband is just waiting for me to come home with another peeping box, I doubt he'll have to wait long...
i started out only wanting 15 but my wife said that since not all survive and since we were going to eat a few that 25 was not much different then 15, so i came home with 26.
He wants enough to either give eggs to the extended family to help out or maybe sell some....I would find that thought funny but I just know I'll be the one doing most off the work...
As far as my Mom... Here's the kicker... She LOVES fresh eggs we manage to get from time to time!
She has this idea that chickens are messy...
By the way she was raised in NYC, never been near a farm, is scared of horses...
I'm the opposite thanks to my favorite Aunt
I adore horses, have helped my friends muck stalls to ride, have the green thumb, love to garden, used to go to my other Uncle's farm for "Real" milk just learned to avoid the spots....

Don't worry, my mom was less than thrilled at the thought of me and my son raising chickens, and we don't even live with them! But as soon as she saw those fuzzy butts, she was cooing and playing with them. Now, she can't wait for fresh eggs!
Ohh, and welcome to BYC!! I got started in much the same way.. my son wanted chickens. Now, I'M the one who can't seem to get enough of them!! I think I actually went through a mild depression when my feed store told me they won't be getting anymore until next year. So now I am shopping MyPetChicken.com for some more babies!
I got 99% of my chick raising info from here.. the folks here are a great help!
