if you raise a hen from chick with no other chickens can she be happy? my aunt has a completley free ranged hen who was raised from chick who lives in a stall at the barn with a bucket for egg laying. she says the hen thinks she's a dog and plays with the dog all day... my aunt and her are very close and are always together. even though she doesn't have other chickens, she has a flock containing an aunt, and two dogs! is she happy? she seems happy...

I think she is perfectly happy. I have had chickens through the years that lived up at the house with me instead of with the flock and they became like the family dog. She would sleep on the carport at night and chase the car up the driveway when I came home from work.

She lived that way for years and seemed to like the company of people and my Jack Russells over the other chickens. Don't worry about her..she is fine.
