I would like to purchase fertilized eggs from a broody hen. I love broodys and we all know that the broody trait has been mostly bred out of the chickens.

Tell me what you have and how much you would like for a dozen. I know it's a lot to ask but I would like mom and dad to be the same breed. I've been on BYC for years and someone out there has what I need! BYC never lets me down. Thanks.

My dorkings, cochins and silkies are very broody. I would look for eggs from any of those breeds. I'm not shipping yet because of weather.

Like BBP mentioned, there are breeds who are broody. Silkies are notorious broodies. Most big fluffy butt breeds are also. Most Mediterranean breeds are not prone to broodiness. I don't know where you would get the idea it has been bred out of them? I have them going broody all of the time. In fact, I have a Silkie hen who wants to set about every other week but I have to pull her off so she will eat and drink, and it has gotten cold here!

All of my cochin bantams are the best broodies and I can set you up with some anytime you want Just give me a holler. I also have Buff and Splash silkies which are also good broodies but just don't think they take care of the eggs as well as the cochins. The other that I have are sizzles and they also are the best broodies. Use them to hatch all my turkey eggs and peacocks when I had them.

Our Black Copper Marans and Jersey Giants can be extremely broody. They can be more scary than the roosters during egg gathering time.

My bantam cochins are the best broodies - they even "out sit" my silkies. The bantam cochins are laying great right now and because they're filling up the nest box daily I have a hen that tries to sit on the eggs daily.

I have frizzles in my cochin pen and I also have 2 hens that lay green eggs. I have no idea where that trait came from because the green eggs hatch laced or frizzled chicks. Let me know if you want more info.

I have eggs for all of these.

I also see broodiness in Welsummers and Delawares - but usually in the 2nd year.

my Bantam Rumpless Araucana are worst broodies than any silkie ever thought about being lol. and some have gone broody at 4 and 5 month just barely a month after beginning to lay for the very first time
