As a Canadian mom....I'm afraid that I have to disagree with this rumour. This is so much BS... There is not a Canadian alive that would tolerate being told by that courts how to raise our children. We'd march on parliment hill and torment our justice system until the decision was repealed. Don't forget not long ago Canadian parents won the judgment on the corporal punishment case.

the1much...if you come across with proof of this case and not rumours and gossip...I'd be happy to see it and apologise. Then forward said proof to every mother I know to make sure it never happens again.

EDIT: ta say,,, apology accepted

You know...we have a saying around here when things defy logic and reason... "Only in Quebec!!?!!"

Apology is duly given....Sorry, my mistake and do you have any other bits of Canadiana that might affect our daily lives.

I would like to quantify that the article said that the case is being appealed and I'll be looking for more information about this. The day the government tells me how to parent my children, I'll be telling the government to do it themselves.

Ok...jumping off soap box now. I am curious as to whether or not Justino feels his punishment is excessive?

let me say i will be on the same page if the gov'mt ever tries to tell me how to raise my kids (beatings aside of course) but i have had to resort to locking my computers to restrict my 16 yr old let him try to take that one to court...he dosent pay for the internet so therefore he must EARN the privilege of using it. jut like his cell phone...no chores and homework done = no computer or cell phone

For goodness sakes, Justino!!! Surely you know better than to break your parents' rules!!! I'll bet you anything that those rules are in place to protect you from the very real dangers that exist on the internet.

Hope you learn something from your punishment, then come back on here so we can enjoy your company again. See ya later!!!

Thanks mjsdhs. I have a 15 yr old that has asked for a cell phone and my answer is always no. She has a calling card so that she can use the pay phones. She's a good girl though and I've only ever had to restrict her internet access for a week.

My oldest dd was on a game playing site and thought that she was chatting with a 14 yo in boston and it turned out to be a 35 yo in pennsylvania! I didn't really know it was happening because her older brother played the same site and I thought it looked safe. He evidently knew what was going on and after I did some checking into if someone lived in that area with the name she had. It was a real mess and I turned it over to the sherrif's office to look into. That is when the deputy called us back and told us his real age. She is 4 years older now and still can't use the computer at home unles her dad or I are around to see where she is going.

The worst part is that she ruined it for her younger brother and sister. They don't eally know what happened, but know that it is because of her.

I don't think that you can keep kids safe enough when it comes to the internet. Just my opinion though.
