Juune Hatch-A-Long

This morning when I went out at 6:30, there was an egg on the floor in the broody pen. I know it was under her when I closed up the coop at 8 pm. The eggs are on Day 3 or 4-how much impact will this have on the development? This hen has 9 eggs under here and is a large Orpington-she should be able to handle that many correct? (Shes a proven broody hen)

Not sure - maybe it's bad and she knew it? I might candle it...but it's only on Day 4. Or it could have simply rolled out.

I have another broody! She is setting in the chicken coop next to one of our other broodies (HennyPenny for those who know her)

There were many chickens laying in HennyPennys nest and then when she went broody they started laying next to her nest box!*So I put the chickens into the second coop and closed that coop that HennyPenny was broody in! But then one of the hens dag a hole in and layed another egg next to HennyPennys nest box on the floor! Then a few minutes later I noticed that there was another hen there next to HennyPenny that just wasn't leaving the nest on the floor!Then I noticed that she was broody so I gave her some more eggs (now she has 11 she only had 1) to brood!
She is now very hapy and I cant wait for them to hatch!
Now I have 3 broody hens!
1= 16 eggs
2= 17 eggs
3= 11 eggs
The stupid hens laid on the floor!

Good news! Candled my classroom eggs today, and at least eight look good! I could see blood vessels and black eyes (day 7). One had a blood ring which I discarded. yay!

Same here. Cant wait till Monday though. Just a day later than you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm due with 16 chicks!

OOPS you are candling but my chicks are hatching on Monday Sorry!!!!

SO it seems I am hearing more and more that broody hatches are a day or so less that incubators? Anyone else have this experience? Then again, I have heard that shipped eggs can go a day or two longer?
