I have never heard of this- Hope somebody has more info- this might somehow tie in to my family history- maybe not. but some of the stuff I've found out , I came across purely by chance, so who knows?

its nice to know of others who come from where i came from and to actually know or want to know about it, i dont see why the real native americans are never really talked about in the history of the usa its sad

I've been googling but can only find vague references to this community- Country Lady do you have any links or have ideas of names of nearby towns in this place. You have me really interested in this now!!!

You can google: www.occaneechi-saponi.org/history.html

There
is also a Little Texas, North Carolina. The Tennessee Little Texas is located south of Nashville, near Thompson Station, if memory serves me right. I will have to dig out my genealogy material.

My maternal family was located in Williamson County, TN., which I believe Little Texas, TN is located.

Here are a couple of references:

Web page, "A Brief History of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation" by Lawrence A. Dunmore, III. Esq.

"Southeastern Indian Refugees from Virginia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee in Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan" by Richard Haithcock and Vickie Hathcock

i have absolutely no idea. my dad was adopted. we have no clue what he is. we believe italian but we could be wrong

My family has Cherokee ancestry on my father's side of the family. I believe my father's ggg grandmother was full Cherokee. She was not required to leave the area during the removal of the Cherokee because she was married to a caucasian ggg grandfather. She was mother to 10 or more mixed children and she remained in north Georgia her entire life.
Several generations later, certain members of my family show strong characteristics similar to our Cherokee ancestors.
I'm posting a picture of my father made in 1948. Although he has spent his entire life as a caucasion male he has many physical Cherokee features. My dad never ceases to amaze me. He is 84 years young and he is still as independant as ever. He still has a full head of hair and much of his hair has remained dark!
