Tylisia awoke in the hospital nest, where all injured owls go. It was in a large tree hollow, and was lined with millions of soft downy feathers. The downy feathers were changed everyday and no broody owl, no matter how much time and effort they put into it, could match the softness and protection of the hospital nest. It smelled of sweet pine and a variety of healing herbs, and a slight, gentle breeze wafted in and kept the hollow feeling refreshing and clean.
Tylisia looked about her, feeling dazed and tired. She was lying in a pile of soft downy feathers, which had been perfectly prepared by the nurse owl, nurse Hoperich, and the nest maid who helped keep everything in the hospital nest completely clean and in prime condition, Mrs. Netricia. Tylisia lifted her wing, which felt numb and had a sticky green mossy substance covered slathered on it. But, to her suprise, her wing didn't have the same aching pain as it had when everything had happened. Yes, it felt much better now, though it also felt odd. Suddenly, Tylisia began to remember everything that happened; the Pure One chasing her and grabbing her with his sharp metal talons, causing her wing to become injured. She remembered, all too clearly, her constant fighting and struggling to get back to the kingdom, despite the pain that was shooting up her wing. Diving into the trees, passing by startled owls who had been contently preening on branches, and falling uncontrollably into the deep pond of icy water...The feeling of being weighed down, of being helpless and not being able to move. Then, suddenly, a blur that seemed to plunge in after her when all hope seemed to be draining quickly away, and that same blur raising her back up with surprising strength to the surface and out of the freezing water's grasp...Sanga, she thought. It had been Sanga who saved her. Her heart warmed with thankfullness towards her dear owl friend who had risked her own life by diving into the water to save her.
She could still here the urgent screeches from the onlookers, and the battle calls from the soldiers as they charged at the two Pure Ones who had invaded the kingdom. After that, the last thing she remembered was being carried away by Sanga and a few other owls. Now, she was here in the safety of the hospital nest, resting in a pile of incredibly soft downy feathers with a stream of golden sunlight finding it's way through the entrance of the nest and bathing her in its comforting warmth. She felt as though she never wanted to stand up and move again. She just wanted to melt with the sunlight into the pile of fluffy, warm feathers and never have to awake again.
But suddenly, nurse Hoperich came bustling by from some hidden chamber in the great trea hollow. She stopped by Tylisia's pile of feathers and said in such a hopeful, cheery voice, "Oh good, you're awake! Now, now dear, don't rush yourself into standing up right now. You took quite a plunge yesterday, and your wing took a beating from that evil Pure One owl as well. Nasty, nasty creatures. I refuse to call them birds at all!" Her facial expression changed to disgust and anger for a slight second, then returned to its normal friendliness.
Nurse Hoperich was an older Snowy Owl, with much experience in taking care of others and healing sicknesses and injuries. The kingdom was very fortunate to have such a friendly, skilled nurse owl such as herself. She and Mrs. Netricia made one of the best caretaking teams in all the owl kingdoms.
"What happened?" Tylisia asked, even though she had an idea of what had happened already.
"Well, after you and that other owl who rescued you, Sanga, were carried away from the pond, the warriors of the kingdom drove the two Pure Ones away. You and Sanga were brought back here and tended to immediately. Sanga didn't have any wing injuries, but she was soaked and freezing to the gizzard after diving into the pond. So we warmed her up and took great care of her, and she's fine now, so don't you worry about that, dear! Because of your wing injury and from exhaustion from flying and then trying to swim in that pond, you passed out and we had to give you special herbs to help you relax and sleep while we tended to your wing. Mrs. Netricia is the best healer with injuries, I'll have you know! She is excellent with working with herbs. That sticky green paste on your wing there," she nodded at Tylisia's injured wing with the strange substance on it, "That's a formula of moss and herbs mixed together. Amazing pain reliever, and it has wonderful healing powers. Simply magnificent, and easy to make, after some practice of course. That's why you can't feel the pain from your injured wing."
Tylisia gulped. The question she had been wanting to ask was on the tip of her beak, yet she was afraid of the answer nurse Hoperich would give her. Yet she needed to know. She just needed to.
She took a deep breath and said in a tiny voice, "Will I ever be able to fly again?" She searched the old Snowy Owl's face desperately, which immediately smiled reassuringly down at her.
"Of course, my dear. No, your wing isn't that injured. And no, you will not be able to fly right away. You will need to give it time to rest and heal after such as ordeal. Encounters with Pure Ones seem to never end well." She shook her head, her gaze seeming to go off in the distance, to something far beyond Tylisia. A long silence followed...and then her gaze snapped back to Tylisia and she said, "Just don't use it very much, dear, and it will heal up in no time. You will need to stay here for a while, so we can continue putting the moss paste on your wings, and so you won't be tempted to fly at all for the next week or so."
Tylisia's gizzard dropped. For a week or so? The words repeated in her head, over and over again. She knew that it was indeed best to let her wing rest, and she trusted that nurse Hoperich knew what she was talking about. But she couldn't help but feel depressed and sad about not being able to fly for a week.
"Nurse Hoperich?" Tylisia said, suddenly remembering something very important she had been meaning to ask.
"Yes, dear?"
"Well...When I was on that great flight trip, with all the younger owls, something happened when we were nearly back to the kingdom, right before I was chased and attacked by that Pure One. Something horrible that needs to be told to the leader of our kingdom." Tylisia's voice suddenly sounded concerned and worried.
"Ah, yes, I know what you're talking about. You see, a few fortunate young owls who had been in your group also made it back. They immediately went to the leader and told him all about it, and I heard that he is planning something that is going to involve all the warriors in our kingdom," Her voice dropped down to a low whisper. "But I am not allowed to tell you anything more. Top secret business that only the leader and other highly authoritive adult owls are allowed to know."

Sigh. If I could fly right now, I could be finishing my basic skills lessons and graduating to become an adult owl! But now I'm going to be behind by a week! I'll never become a warrior or of some other service to the kingdom at this rate. Tylisia thought hopelessly.
Nurse Hoperich noticed the anxious and sad look in her bright, golden eyes and smiled at her gently as she said, "Don't worry, dear, it will pass by sooner than you think. You'll be thankful you let it heal properly when you fly again." Tylisia nodded, and she did agree with her, though she just wished it wouldn't take song long before she could fly again.
"Now, I'm going to go tend to another patient over there. The poor dear has a terrible cold because of this chilly fall weather setting in! For now, you just rest and only think about healing that wing of yours. Mrs. Netricia will be back shortly with your dinner." nurse Hoperich sighed and bustled away to a small owlet, the one with the cold, whom was fast asleep in another pile of soft downy feathers.
Tylisia laid down and closed her eyes. The sweet smell of pine needles and the natural herbs that had been given her to help her wing heal made her feel tired, and so she soon fell asleep. While she was asleep, she dreamed of waking up and finding that her wing was completely healed already. She dreamed of flying in the wonderful air, feeling the wind beneath her wings once again.

Alright...Well, I decided to write a story! I feel like writing tonight, all the sudden.
thumbsup.gif

So, my plan was to go back to the beginning of this thread and use everyone's characters in the book, if that's alright with you guys.
smile.png
Let me know if you would not like your character(s) to be included in the book. I will write it in my own words, based on all the posts on here. It will be like a lengthened version, written with my own style, of the whole story of this thread put together in one story that I will add to. And I will add my own little parts in it as well.
smile.png
When it is done, I will post it here.
What do you think?

Although, it may take some time. Going through 555 posts and picking out the ones to add to the story may take a while to do...But I will try and work on it as much as I can and will continue to write here when I can.
