Kane is hurt! A vent :/

No aspirin. If the vet has to do anything to it it will bleed like a stuck pig.

Put ice on it if you can't take him to the vet right away.

It can be anything - an abcess, a busted toe, a sprain.

Waiting til tomorrow, most likely won't make a difference, but of course one never knows what it is, even from 'Bulletin Board Radar'.

I agree i wouldn't give any aspirin at all. I was thinking the same thing as Welsummerchick, if he goes tomorrow and has to have anything invasive the ASA will thin his blood. Just keep him quiet in the crate till you can get him to the vet.

ETA: If you do give asirin and you have only coated, then you can just grind it up before to give it.

Thanks y'all.

Kane and I are about to go down for a nap. Perhaps it will improve my mood and his foot.

As Imp has already noted- dogs like humans have varying levels of pain tolerance. If Kane is a tough guy, there may be an injury of some significance. If he is on the soft side, it may be minor. Tomorrow will tell the tale as to the nature of his injury. You are right. Both of you should take a good nap and regroup.

I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow, come heck or high water.

His foot is no better AND we gave him aspirin and he's been puking all day since.

Ever held a 110 lb. dog down to get some pepto in him?

Jax will drink the stuff straight out of the bottle. Kane hides the minute he sees the bottle.

I just called our vet at home and left a message. I imagine she's at church and will call back when she gets home. Kane can't stop vomiting. Thank goodness our vet isn't like most doctors nowadays; she doesn't mind calls at home.

Keep Kane in your prayers please Miz Red.

Dont give pepto if the aspirin made Kane vomit. Pepto has aspirin in it too. Try maalox to coat his tummy ..it wont interfere with anything the vet will be doing and does not have aspirin in it

I give liquid meds by sucking the correct amount into a needle-less syringe. Then I slowly release it in the back of the dog's mouth so he cannot spit it out. Dogs who are easy get it in a "pocket" made from the corner of the lower lip. I never could give liquids with a spoon!

edited to add that liquid Maalox is really good for stomach upsets.
