Kansas Folks?

I am in Kansas, wyandotte county also ctrymama. You wouldn't happen to have or know anyone that has any chicks/chickens in the silky/frizzle/polish/japenese variety.. My wife and I lost ours to a family of raccoons.

You're all right. I'm a few months shy of a year with raising chickens so I am still new to everything also. Hopefully this spring my former chicks will start having chicks of their own. Best of luck to you with all of that... enjoy the learning curve.

I'm in Smith Center Kansas in North Central next to Nebraska.
We live on an 80 acre farm and our chicks free range.
Some friends and I are planning a poultry swap in April 2015. Should be fun.

Hi! I'm from western Ks. We live out in the country between Dodge City and Garden City. I'm currently looking for some Silver Laced Wyandotte pullets and an Easter Egger or two. So far I've ordered in 3 BLR Wyandotte pullets and a rooster from OH and when we went to Denver this weekend I picked up 2 SL Wyandotte hens and a rooster.
As well as the angora rabbit my husband got me for my birthday and a Nigerian dwarf buckling. :)

Wow!! Lucky you! I'm hoping we can find a pair of peafowl before long too! If anyone has Americana, ameraucana or wyandotte pullets that they're looking to sell in my area or even around Wichita or thereabouts let me know!!
Lost my angora today. We don't know what happened. I'm devastated. :(

I had six babies, all EExSF and BRxSF, and I guess there were three males and three females. Then a nasty raccoon came along and at my baby girls. I saw him do it, little jerk.

Anyway, my dear husband, after he had dispatched the raccoon, reminded me that I can let my broody-inclined hen, Goose, raise more babies someday. This was my first batch of chicks and I was devastated by the loss of the females, and it hadn't even occurred to me. Raccoons will always be a problem, just have to shore up the security.

Anyway, here are the survivors...

Sorry about your rabbit.
We don't have problems with raccoons or coyotes because we have a livestock guardian dog. BUT the neighbors lab is friends with our dog and she eats eggs and killed 15 of my chicks.
