Kat’s Journey into Chicken Keeping

Well, let me introduce you to the latest arrivals:

No names yet. I’m thinking on it.

I haven’t posted here for awhile.
We’ve had some problems with feral and/or stray dogs. A stray dog came into our yard and killed some of our chickens. This has been very emotionally unsettling, and I haven’t been in the mood to post lately.
But we went to work and fenced in about a quarter of an acre or so of our back yard for our flock. We probably should have done this long ago, but our flock never left our property, in fact they stayed around the house mostly, and we were lured into a false sense of security.
The feral dog came right up to our porch area.

And we have added nine new chicks to our family.

These three are a few days old now, Barred Rocks.
These pictures aren’t too good because the room is dark right now and they are small and dark colored.
I promise to get more and better pictures later.
I also need to get updated pictures of the remaining members of our original tribe.

Awww! Somehow I stopped getting alerts on your thread - thanks for letting us know you have babies 🥰🥰
So sorry about the dog. Very sad.
