Kat’s Journey into Chicken Keeping

Hi, Friends!
Sorry I’ve been missing in action lately.
I am in PA all week, and not all for fun. My sister and I are cleaning our Uncle Peter’s house and it’s no day at the beach, let me tell you.
He’s in the hospital and will be starting chemo and radiation and his house needs to be a little more sanitized, shall we say.
I will tell more when I have time.
I love you guys! :love :celebrate:yesss:

Thanks for checking in. I cannot imagine what a task you have taken on. We will patiently await your return.

I am home again. I drove back yesterday (11 hours). So I am TIRED today.
But it’s good to be back. I missed my pups, my kitty, and my lovely birds!
It was not really a fun trip. I had a Memorial service to attend for a friend/family member, and I spent two days helping the family out. Then I think I mentioned my Uncle Peter’s house up in Saylorsburg Lake in the Poconos. It was a disaster, as he is a hoarder, but in addition to that, he just left trash around and never took it out for years.
We didn’t discard anything useful, we tried to organize things and put them together in appropriate boxes. He has, for example, 6 staplers, 3 electric pencil sharpeners, 12 computer mouses, and as many as ten of each tool (screw drivers, wrenches, etc.) There must be 100 light bulbs.
what we threw out was literally trash, which was piled up all over. There was mail, much of it junk mail, from 1988, and those newspaper flyers from grocery stores
Dark sooty dirt (he has a coal stove) everywhere.
The thing is, he’s getting chemo and radiation and is immuno-compromised. He is too weak to function at home now, but eventually we are hoping he will be able to.
There is flood water in his cellar, and he refused to let us call the fire department to pump it.
I did get to visit with my kids and grandkids, though, and that alone was worth the trip. :love :love:love
