I swear it's always our favorites that things happen to. No matter the species![]()

It can be so hard when you lose one.Thank you, All.
I can’t believe how broken-hearted I feel about a chicken, but it’s true.
Blanche was an awesome hen and this is just awful.
And my Uncle Pete psssed away two weeks ago. My “original family” which used to be large and boisterous is down to my sister, brother, and me, and one Uncle Harry. I have some cousins but we are scattered. We do meet on Facebook.
But anyway, my little flock of chickens is down to seven (out of thirteen).

Congratulations!Princess laid an egg. Her first one in three weeks.
Once the molting was underway the egg-laying dropped off in our hen-house.
Plus it’s winter.
I still get one or two eggs a day. It’s those ISA Browns, Thelma and Louise, and my RI Red, Rose. They are egg-laying warriors.
I don’t mind if they take a break though. It’s better for them.
Their feathers are growing in nicely and they look gorgeous again.
I hope to take some pics today.View attachment 2941830
