Kate! Kate to the Nigi help desk!

Yes from the pics it looks like the vets did a very good job. You are very lucky to have a vet that will do a farm C section and bring help with her. Our vet always wanted us to bring them to the clinic where he had a sterile enviro and gas/ O2 etc . I also had to act as the vet assistant since all of ours were at like midnight or so. The good side was he charged me $35. for an after hours office call and ONLY $400. for the surgery. Yes I said only $400 because everybody we knew that lived closer to the cities were paying thier vets $600-$800.
Cocoa will be fine however keep in mind that all of the info I got said there may be concerns about future breedings after a C section.

ETA MP I totally understand this was anccident which happens. We had one once too but better luck. BUT as you said and it can't be said enough.

PEOPLE PLEASE DO NOT BREED goats BEFORE 1 1/2 years so they will kid at 2 !!!!!!!!!!

Approx $150 for this c-section.

The vet said there should be no issues with her breeding again after this. She said goats bounce back and do wonderfully given time to finish maturing.

THank you everyone for your thoughts and well wishes.

After we had a big emotional breakdown yesterday afternoon and my DD cried it out we had a big rain storm and then the sun came out bright and shining. She said she felt like the rain came and washed away the bad day and she felt clean and fresh after having danced in the rain.

I think we are going to be fine now.

This is exactly what I love about farm life. I can have bad days, horrible days, ups and downs and when I go out, look around, and spend time with the animals it reminds me of all of the good that is still around me.

I'm glad you both had this experience and are on your way to healing and feeling better.

Miss P's is more inline with what we paid for our last c-section (on a cow)-$200.

Yea! Our c-section on a pygmy was $250.00

small vets are different from large animal/livestock vets.

I did not pay for a surgical suite and recovery and 10 million other extras.

I paid for a tail gate c-sect with a general. Over and done in about 40 minutes tops and the vet was on her way to her next call.

Lieterally. Look at my blog. Cocoa was laid out and restained on the tail gate of her truck.
