MP...dear Lord, shave that udder!

Takes seeing to believe. She is a massive contradiction of signs. I have never, ever had a doe as close to kidding as she would be with no udder development (you said it was totally flat, right?)...but I'm quite sure stranger things have happened. Her pooch...um...is different. The discharge interests me...the shape is all wrong though.

Get your hands on her and feel around (I mean, really, get your hands INTO her right flank, then feel just before her udder on the abdominal floor and bounce & poke) to see if you can palpate a fetus.

Lastly - she needs a copper bolus...just an observation.

I would also agree with feeling around for babies.. with her being that round I would definately think you will feel something.. I know with my nigies when they were well rounded and near kididng you could actually see the baby moving around periodically if you stood and watched them.. you will know too because it is quick movement not like the rolling contractions of the rumen.. same goes with feel.. they will bump your hand when you are pressing and them move away..From my experience when they are very near kididng they tend to "drop" and look somewhat sunken in the flank/rear area.. how about feeling ligaments? I am wondering maybe if she is just a very fat doeling. Can you feel any boniness to her at all when you run hand up spine or over ribs? She maybe is just very well fed. I have a pygmy doe that looks like she swallowed a beach ball most of the time and I have had nigies that have been on the plump /resembling pygmy roundness also. Also any chances on worms> But with all that said if she was around a buck even a young one it definately is possible.. nigerians practically come out fertile and able to produce. I know I have pulled kids/boys at only 7 weeks because they were obviously eating well and drinking water first and foremost but they were mounting and showing their manhood off.. Hope things work out and if she is preggers I would have a vet on standby with her being soooo young.

Yep the little bucklings are very fertile and I pull mine at 7 wks also. I would say she has a few weeks till kidding. I dont see much udder development either with all the hair but I dont shave my girls udders either as its too cold here and they wont be still. Also it really depends on the buck for a udder also. Some will udder up before kidding but I have watched my girls large and small enlarge before my eyes as they were having contractions...MY La Mancha wasnt tight and after she was through delivering she was huge.
Most of my FF will get tight but I have some that are exceptions to the rule. She does look like she needs a copper bolus or the light of the carmera was very strong bbt I bolus mine and they dont fade. She sure looks red instead of black/white.
Nigerians are very determined when in heat and fence breeding is possible...that is why I have horse panels between my girls and boys...learned the hard way and also to remove the boys sooner than the girls. I personally would say maybe 2 to 3 weeks tops...have you noticed any heats from her lately? As nigis cycle every 21 days all yr long. They arent like large dairy does. Or she is getting all of the food...lol... good luckand be prepared, looks like possibly a single or twins..

What tells you she needs copper? I have often wondered how to tell that.

I have read that it's when the fur turns copper or reddish in color. I'm sure the goat veterans will give you a better definition. Go back and look at the difference in her color in the photos and you'll be able to tell.
