We have had our hands on her and just cannot tell. She is so small. Her udder is like a tiny bubble.

No, on the shaving her. We have freezing weather to go through still and it is just too cold. It is supposed to snow again here today. When it snows she sinks down and drags through it. I can't do that to her wih a naked rear end as tiny as she is.

Her color has not changed. You are seeing the difference in light. Sunshine in a field vs. an unlightd barn and a camera flash. I can give copper bolus though if you really think she needs it.

The vet was here friday and she said she looked fine but it was nearly impossible to know for sure at this point. I asked about an x-ray and she did not have a one.

Hence I came to you. I am stumped.

MissPrissy - Good Luck with your little one..... It is cold and snowing here in Maryland right now.

Oh my on your Avatar. I don't know that I have ever seen a picture of you, is that you?

Missprissy, good luck with your little baby. She looks like my nigi right now. Clara Belle is going to Kid in 3-4 weeks and she is very Round. Her udder has been filling up for the past 3 weeks. Its her second kidding. Hope everything goes well with your goat. Do you know what kind of goat could have bred her before you got her? I sure hope it was a nigi or something small.

I get my copper boluses at Jeffers and they come in cow size capsules and I just go to walmart and get a bottle of clear capsules and empty or fill them with the little copper rods. Its 1 gram per 22 lbs of goat. You can tell when they need more copper as the hair starts to fade and it gets what most call wind burn or sundamage. Its a fading of the darker hair. Red ends...Its harder to tell with lighter colored goats and also it helps if they are pregnant with birthing too, and their hooves benifit from it too. I do mine about ever 6 mths.
Like MP I dont shave unless I need too as the weather dictates what I do to mine. If I am milking I trim the udders or just the teats .
MP she looks to me like she still has a few weeks but as you know with goats that can change in a few days. I rely on checking their ligaments and checking the rear area alot. Artificial light can change lots of things. Mine even do that and their color changes with winter undergrowth also. Good luck
