I know several show people with Dobies that show their dogs with natural ears. Instead of taping they would "roll" the ear for a few minutes a day to make sure the cartilage formed where they wanted it and left the rest of the ear soft. They chose where the ear would "break" or bend over to give the dog the proper expression. All three of their natural Dobies have a wonderful earset and with a very perky expression. My Mom also did this with her Mini Schauzer and he's got the nicest natural earset of any Schauzer I have ever seen.
Jamie, with a puppy that has as much promise as this one does, I am not taking any chances on the ears. When they start going rose, she will get taped for a few days until teething is done.
