I honestly have no idea what breed Buttercup is! I just figure that most of the chickens here are a mix of different breeds!Eeeeeekk!! Is that a Sicilian Buttercup!? Oh, and those babies![]()
Haha, I thought it would be nice to put a face to the name, errrr... i mean feet!Ok, now I can see what was connected to all of those extra little feet!![]()
It looks like buttercup is a mix. I don’t see a buttercup comb, but she is super cute and looks like a good mommaI honestly have no idea what breed Buttercup is! I just figure that most of the chickens here are a mix of different breeds!![]()

I love them! Especially the Bielefelder roosters!
He’s not a purebred bielefelder- his body shape is more like some sort of gamefowl. Also, he has white in his earlobes and his coloration is incorrect. Here he is in all his glory! I wasn't familiar with bielefelders when I fist met him and thought he was a pulletPoor thing is named Gloria

Thank you for your comment! I had a feeling that he wasn't a purebred bielefelder and probably a mix of different breeds since he's a wild chicken! He’s not a purebred bielefelder- his body shape is more like some sort of gamefowl. Also, he has white in his earlobes and his coloration is incorrect.
It’s probably good he’s not a bielefelder, since I doubt one of those would be able to get enough food just by foraging.
Thank you so much for sharing your Kauai Chicken experience with me! It makes me sad that the girls response to you being worried about the mama hen and her chicks was that "they're only chickens"... unfortunately, a lot of people feel that way about the chickens hereI went to Kauai in 2006. We went to the old sugar plantation to have a lunch, and chickens were begging at the open air restaurant like pigeons. Then there was a ma hen and her chick and the ma hen demanded we feed her and her baby, and the baby said "Yah!" we gave them peanuts. Then we saw in a diff area a ma hen and her babies and cars were driving by. I got upset, and a girl walked by and said, "What's wrong?" I told her I was worried about the ma hen and babies on the road, she said, "They are only chickens." Then we went to another side of the Island, and some chickens came out of the woods when we were by a park, and one of the chickens kept walking backwards. (Stargazer?)
