You may have better options for finding them where you live. I've never seen one around here. I'm sure someone has them though.

They are another nice breed, but hard to find.

I think they are becoming more common as there are apparently several breeders in MA and NH. I think most are in the Western part of the state though. And definitely nowhere near as many as, say, Labs or Goldens or something. I think they are still a somewhat rare breed and breeders are also more strict about them? Or careful about where they go? Idk the exact word but I think they are kept a bit more secretive than other breeds aha

I think my biggest issue is hand stripping the coat

I never stripped a terrier, so I'm definitely no help on it though I've seen videos and read about it.

Yeah, I've been reading about it on the breed club website and breeders sites and planning on watching some videos next. I don't think it is hard at all, just time consuming. Some say it only needs to be done 3-4 times a year, some say twice a year, neither of which would be too bad but then I saw this one breeder say it should be done like every 3 weeks or so and that you can do it less often but then they will never truly look neat and tidy and the fur will be in a constant state of growing out. Which is true and the tidy, short look on pictures and stuff does look really nice but personally I think that person was a little... idk. Type A or OCD or something lol who cares. Idk. An hour to hour and a half every 3 weeks is a kind of a lot. But not that much. Idk. Maybe if you keep up with it it is less. But I think maybe like 3 or 4 times a year or every 2 or 3 months is a good compromise. So they don't get too scraggly but I don't have to do it as often. Or I could just say forget it lol they're cute either way and as long as it isn't clipped, they're still weather resistant.

I though it was 1-2 times a year. My guess the ones doing it more often are showing or breeding. I have a stripping knife, but will never use it. Some use the knife and others just their fingers. You are basically plucking out hairs.

Yeah, I think 1-2 times a year is the more common consensus that I saw. But when you Google borders, they often have very short, tight coats, so I think to get that look it is maybe more often? Whereas something like a Cairn or Westie or something already had longer hair so it's not really noticeable if you do it less. So maybe that is why that Border breeder said to do it more often? Cause they will grow a longer coat otherwise. But yeah, this one was both showing and breeding.

I think I'm somewhat back to Aussies LOL was talking with FSIL about dogs today for some reason and mentioning all my ideas and idk, she's saying Aussies are pretty small but mostly was saying how smart and trainable they are and how theirs herded people but he was so smart and listened the first time, didn't have to tell him twice, unlike the Pyrs and how his trick routine, eventually he just started doing all the tricks when they pulled a treat out cause he knew the routine lol he'd sit, down, roll over, i think go back to a sit, and speak. And that's just like adorable and she said he wasn't really too protective. And idk. They seem great and a perfect size. Not quite as big as a Lab or Golden but not a "little dog" either lol
