I guess the timing is about right for all the cute little "easter bunnies" to stop being so little and cute.

Yup. My neighbour asked me yesterday if I wanted two mor rabbits because his little girl had grown tired of hers and now wanted a cat. In fairness to him he didn't buy them. She lives with her mom. And he's trying to find a good home, and not just giving them away for free.

My wee man Isaac was an Easter dump two years ago. They at least bothered to take him to a rescue though.

There's a wild population in our various blackberry growths- I don't know enough about rabbits to know if it would be accepted there or if they'd hurt it or send it packing.

Your native cottontails are different to the pet rabbit, which is descended from European rabbits. They can't breed together, and live very different lives. Unless it's a feral pet colony? Though they probably wouldn't accept it anyway. He'd have to fight his way into it to be accepted.

Good luck with the capture and rehome. At least he's got someone looking out for him.

Super doo-per sweet pictures!!! Very awwwwwwwww inducing!
Thx you're welcome it was a good day for pictures today.
With wild rabbits it could be a problem, even the European ones here fight mine sometimes. My poor Dukha nearly lost her right eye, but she's fine. It's not unmanageable but with other species it will get rough!

But I also know that hybrids between different rabbit species, even with hare's exist. So maybe its not all that bad...?
